Meet the Permanent Residents

This gorgeous bunch have found their forever homes here at India's Hamster Rescue, and have stayed with us due to age, health, or other needs that make them best suited to a life of comfort and care at the rescue.

You can sponsor a resident to help support with their ongoing care.

Buddy
Buddy arrived into the rescue as part of our Christmas intake in December 2024. Unfortunately, an abcess inside of his mouth caused his eye to need removing. Thankfully, he healed up perfectly and is now enjoying life as a resident hamster in his pirate themed home.

Murray
Murray arrived to the rescue after being abandoned in a house after a supposed house fire. Her head tilt was confirmed to be neurological by our vets and is likely going to worsen over time. In the meantime, she is thriving in her 120 x 60 tank where her wellbeing can be monitored closely.

Toast
Toast is a resident hamster due to his age, he's a sweet little boy with a name as cute as he is! He's loving his new home within our rescue, especially running on his wheel.

Ernie
Ernie stayed with us for retirement after being surrendered to the rescue at 2 years old. He hadn't been handled at all by his previous home and so naturally was quite skittish and afraid. He's now thriving in his forever home and enjoying every second of ethical care.

Morganite
Morganite was surrendered to our rescue in May 2025. Due to her age and after over a month with no interest, her foster mum decided to foster fail and give her the best retirement in Hamsterdam. This goregeous girl is a huge 200g and because of this, resides in a 120 x 60cm home.

Dennis
Dennis was surrendered to us at the ripe old age of 2.5 years old. As we don't rehome hamsters over the age of 2 years old, Dennis became a resident hamster and has been loving his peaceful life and evening porridge.

Bugsy
Bugsy first arrived to the rescue as a little baby back in 2023. He was adopted out into a wonderful home and lived most of his life in the best care possible. Unfortunately, his owner had to surrender him back to the rescue due to personal circumstances so he will now spend his retirement in rescue.

Merlin
Merlin arrived to us at he age of 2 and a half years old. For this reason, he's landed a spot as a resident hamster and will spend the rest of his life under our care.

Ditto
Ditto came to us with a very swollen ear and a scratch across her face. After vet treatement, it was decided that she would stay. At 18 months and also being a robo, it would be difficult to find her a permanent home and therefore she has ended up staying.

Edie
Edie simply stole her fosterer's heart and it was decided she'll stay in rescue! Edie came into rescue in July 2025 at 16 months old, so her wonderful fosterer decided to give her a permanent home for the rest of her days.

Mr Nubs
This gorgeous ball of floof arrived to us with a missing foot! He immediately stole Fran's heart and as a result of the adaptive care he requires, will spend the rest of his life in rescue. To cater for his stump, he requires an adapted cage and wheel to help him navigate life without his foot.

Mabel
Those of you who follow our page will recognise Mabel, who arrived to us with a sore chin. After weeks and weeks of trying different medication, creams, an x-ray and skin biopsies, it is suspected that the sore is caused by bone inflammation in Mabel's jaw. For this reason, Mabel became a resident hamster and will continue to receive care under rescue.
