Meet the Permanent Residents
This gorgeous bunch have found their forever homes here at India's Hamster Rescue, and have stayed with us due to age, health, or other needs that make them best suited to a life of comfort and care at the rescue.
You can sponsor a resident to help support with their ongoing care.

Toast
Toast is a resident hamster due to his age, he's a sweet little boy with a name as cute as he is! He's loving his new home within our rescue, especially running on his wheel.

Mr Nubs
This gorgeous ball of floof arrived to us with a missing foot! He immediately stole Fran's heart and as a result of the adaptive care he requires, will spend the rest of his life in rescue. To cater for his stump, he requires an adapted cage and wheel to help him navigate life without his foot.

Mabel
Those of you who follow our page will recognise Mabel, who arrived to us with a sore chin. After weeks and weeks of trying different medication, creams, an x-ray and skin biopsies, it is suspected that the sore is caused by bone inflammation in Mabel's jaw. For this reason, Mabel became a resident hamster and will continue to receive care under rescue.

Audrey
Audrey joined the retirement crew in December 2025 after being a child's play toy for most of her life. Her exact age is unknown, but is estimated to be around 18 months. Given this, it was decided that she was going to retire to a life of luxury within rescue.

Special K
This little guy arrived to us with a very infected scent gland. After a course of antibiotics (that didn't work), it was decided to have it removed and it turned out to be a tumour. Following this, Special K has had issues with his eyes and given his age, we felt it was best he retired in rescue where he would receive any treatment required.

Loki
Welcoming Loki to retirement within IHR. He was surrendered at the age of 23 months as a "Syrianese" hamster and unfortunately lived his whole life in unsanitary conditions. Hopefully this little guy can enjoy many more months in his new home.

Albus
Albus has joined the team to retire at the age of 24 months! This little guy has gone from rags to riches and is now living the greatest retirement with Lily in Aylesbury.

Vesper
Vesper came into rescue along with his brother, unfortunately cohabitating. As a result, it was clear that Vesper was not the dominant of the two hamsters. He has demodex mites from a poor immune system and his back legs are also splaying. As a result, Vesper will stay in rescue where he can receive the treatment he needs.

Cecily
Cecily joined the crew in April 2026 at the age of 18 months old. After having some concerns around a sneezing noise and with no real findings after a few trips to the vet, her fosterer decided it would be best for her to stay in rescue where she could be monitored.

Rori
Rori is a 23 month old girl, given her age, we didn’t feel it was right to put her up for adoption. Instead, she stayed with her fosterer, where she’ll spend the rest of her retirement enjoying a loving home as a permanent resident of the rescue.
